The humans go to war with a race called the Forerunners, the most advanced species in the known universe at that time. They ally with a species called the San’Shyuum, known as the Prophets in the Halo games. At this point humans were already space-faring (yes, you read that right), and they interacted with a race known as the Forerunners, who are the same beings that build the Halo array of rings. This is a time millenia before the main events of the games, deep in Earth’s past. Forerunner Eraįirst and foremost in the Halo Universe, is the Forerunner era. In what follows, I’ll discuss each major era of the Halo timeline, and our best recommendations for each. There are books, comics, short films, a television series, and even an audio drama. So that gives you a good sense of the games, but there’s a lot more in this saga besides those.
